A unique culinary treasure of Thailand is the art of candle scenting— an aromatic candle made from beeswax, dried flowers and essential oils is lit in a jar; food placed in the jar becomes infused with the scent of the candle. It was popularised during the reign of King Rama V, but is only practiced by few traditional chefs today.
