New Family Rooms are introduced at the awarded hide-away resort on Thailand’s most beautiful island

The luxurious InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort adds a special room concept to its exclusive selection of rooms, suites and villas – the Family Rooms. Located in the property’s main building, these rooms have the needs and comfort of families in mind. The décor remains in tune with the Thai colonial style of the resort, using dark wooden floors and furnishings which are set off elegantly against a muted colour scheme and lightened by vivid splashes of colour.

Starting from 65 sqm, the highlight of these rooms will be the children’s corner. It features a cosy bunk bed which invites kids to snuggle up in, to bounce on or to launch pillow fights from. Of course we leave it to the diplomacy of the parents to decide who is allowed to sleep on the top bunk! Bean bags entice the children to relax and lounge and colouring books are available for some quiet time. A fantastic toy treasure chest is just waiting to be explored and there are even children-sized bathrobes and slippers, so that everyone is set to race to one of the pools or the beach. During their stay, kids have free access to the resort’s own Planet Trekkers Kids Club which offers activities in and around the resort. It is supervised by a team of experienced and qualified child minders.

Stéphane Duchenne, General Manager of the InterContinental Samui and father of two, knows what families are looking for. “Finding the right balance in a resort or hotel to appeal to both children and parents is very important. You do not want to forgo a bit of luxury during your holidays but, at the same time, you do not want to be in an environment that does not allow your kids to be kids”, he explains. “At the InterContinental Samui, we are fortunate to be spread out over 22 acres of land, have seven pools, Planet Trekkers Kids Club, a large, secluded beach and the Gulf of Thailand at our disposal. Wherever you are at the hotel, it never feels crowded due to the sheer size of the property.”
